Ocular Conditions...

Myopia
If distant objects to appear blurred, while close objects can still be seen clearly you are probably myopic (aka short sighted). This is because light is focusing before the retina, rather than directly on to the back of the eye. Myopia is caused by the eye being too long or the cornea being too steep. The result is a mismatch between the length of the eye and its focusing power.

Hyperopia
If distant objects are clear but near items are blurry, chances are you are Long-sighted. The medical name for long-sightedness is Hyperopia.

Astigmatism
Astigmatism occurs when the eye has an irregular curvature across its refractive (light bending) surfaces. Most spectacle or contact lens wearers have some degree of astigmatism.
